Disney Princess: Enchanted Journey is a video game of theDisney Princess franchise, which was released for the PlayStation 2, Wii and PC in 2007. It was released on PlayStation Network on February 15, 2012 in Europe.
Gameplay
The players can interact with various characters and solve problems by way of a magic wand that they are given at the start of the game. The players can collect gems and transform Bogs into non-threatening butterflies. As players complete each world, a gem will shine on their avatar's necklace and their castle will become less run-down and more fixed up.
Plot
The game follows an amnesiac young girl (Isabelle Fuhrman) that is brought to a dilapidated castle called "Gentlehaven" and sent on a quest to travel to the homes of various Disney Princesses and help solve problems caused by mischievous creatures called Bogs. The player travels to several worlds inhabited by Ariel (Jodi Benson), Jasmine (Linda Larkin), Cinderella (Jennifer Hale) and Snow White (Carolyn Gardner), ultimately culminating with a battle between the player and Zara - an ex-princess who is trying to stop every girl from becoming a princess. After successfully defeating Zara, the player is informed that she is a princess and that she can now travel to the world of Belle (Paige O'Hara) to solve additional problems.
Why It Sucks
- Repetitive storyline.
- The graphics look like they belong in a PS1 game.
- The only enemies in the game are the Bogs, which are incredibly weak.
- Mini-games are basic, dull and repetitive.
- The only unlockables in the entire game are the golden set dress in which you can unlock by completing the storyline or entering "BLUEBIRD" in the Secrets menu, as well as castle remodeling. The Belle mini-game in which can be unlocked by completing all chapters from all princess's worlds, or also entering "GASTON" in the Secrets menu. The Belle world is also a complete waste of time, all you do is play a single mini-game where you kill Bogs over and over.
- You cannot die in this game due to the fact that if the Bogs shoots green smokes at you, a meter appears that seems to be a health bar but in just a few seconds, the bar instantly refills making it nearly impossible to get killed.
- The game is very easy with almost zero possibilities to lose in the storyline and there's not too much challenge at all, since the game is oriented towards preschoolers.
- The game is very short which the game can be completed in two hours or less. By entering "BEAST" in the Secrets menu, you're at the final boss fight with Zara without needing to complete all of the princesses' worlds which can be completed in five or six minutes.
- Generic soundtrack.
- The game gets boring very fast.
- The collectibles are only gems.
- Awful voice acting,
- Clunky controls, especially on the Wii version.
- Unnecessary amount of PS2 save data. Seriously? Why 1200 KB for a game that lacks replay value? Gran Turismo 4 has almost 1500KB and has a huge replay value by having more than 800 cars, but this game has nothing other than a few amount of clothes, repetitive storyline and extremely easy difficulty with zero challenge at all.
- In fact even some games such as Burnout Revenge or Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005) despite having low KB filesize in the Memory Card savegame it has decent replay value.
- There are not a lot of customization options available.
